In this day and age, museums play one of the pivotal poles in cultural aspects of people’s lives, providing them with an opportunity to become a part of a history. Some people believe that such intuitions should return to the countries the objects of their cultural and historical heritage, such as paintings and sculptures. I partially agree with this statement, however, there may emerge problems with identification the belongness to the curtain regions, thus masterpieces and other creations should stay at the museums.
During previous millennia in the world had happened so many wars and other significant events, such formation and destruction of numerous states and cultures. Most of such artifacts and historical object keep the memory about not only one religion, culture or countries. In these creations interlace the stories of various nations and it becomes difficult to determine the owner of a masterpiece. By wat of illustration, during the Napolean Bonaparte reignition there were many expeditions to Egypt and from these adventures Frenches had brought many ancient Egyptian artifacts and, nowadays, they can be observed in the Louver. It can not be said that such objects belong directly a France, however this is a crucial part of their history and carries the memory about events of those days.
Nevertheless, some historical objects were stolen by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Solders raided houses of people, who had different religion or race. In this case, masterpieces and art creations were robbed and collected by solders and high German society, as they believed that others with different worldview are nor dignified to have such cultural objects. Consequently, that is differ from Napolean’s expeditions for exploration and classification of ancient civilisations’ heritage. Therefore, previous owners of masterpieces, which were stolen, have rights to demand the return of those objects.
Taking everything into consideration, it can be said that often it is almost impossible to determine the belongness of particular historical and cultural objects to a distinct country or religion, because most of such masterpieces had become integral part of many nations’ histories. However, artifacts or values should be returned to their truly owners, since they were stolen or obtained by illegal ways.
