Band 8+: Human activities caused harm to various plant and animals. Some people argue that nothing can be done, while others believe that actions can be taken

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The detrimental effects of human activities on various flora and fauna have sparked considerable debate among individuals. Some argue that this impact is irreversible, while others believe that alternative measures can lead to positive change. This essay will discuss both perspectives before concluding with my viewpoint.

First and foremost, human activities have a lasting negative influence on numerous plants and animals, often deemed irreversible. For example, many species have gone extinct due to air and water pollution, climate change, and hunting for entertainment or food. These species cannot be reintroduced into the ecosystem. Such practices have contributed to global warming, a primary cause of forest fires, including the recent catastrophic fires in the Amazon rainforest. Additionally, many species have lost their habitats, which cannot be restored, and the rising global temperatures are difficult to mitigate. This leads some to believe that it is too late to take action.

On the other hand, others argue that strategic actions can be taken to address these pressing issues. First and foremost, governments must enact strict regulations against deforestation and harm to wildlife, with serious consequences for non-compliance. For instance, this approach is already being implemented in several Asian countries, like Japan, where individuals face heavy fines for violating these laws. Furthermore, widespread education, awareness programs, and green initiatives can help people understand the severity of the situation and encourage efforts to conserve biodiversity. Research shows that 80% of commercial stores today have adopted the ‘Go Green’ initiative by switching from plastic bags to paper bags.

In conclusion, while some believe that nothing can be done, I maintain that effective measures, such as awareness campaigns and conservation projects, can mitigate the negative effects caused by human actions. Although humans have led to these environmental consequences, we also possess the capability to implement robust strategic development plans that can lead to significant positive change.
