There is view that if a product is needed, people will purchase it. Thus, there is no need for advertisement as it’s redundant and nothing more than entertainment. I don’t concur with this statement fully as advertisement has become a great help for customers to find the products they are looking for though the disadvantages of marketing shouldn’t be ignored.
On the one hand, if advertisement were completely wiped out, more and more would find very hard to locate their required products. It’s very useful tool as customers don’t have to spend countless amount of their time and money. Because advertising is time-saving and reaches to wide range of population, it would unwise to consider it as unimportant. A case in point is Pharmaclick in Uzbekistan. This enterprise fully operates online and invests heavily on advertisements to attract more clients. On both of sites and google address are filled with positive reviews about patients having found critically important drugs which were almost impossible to find anywhere and praised their service. Without navigation, which commercials are serving as, it will be challenging for searchers to get the products despite its vitality and quality.
On the other hand, admittedly, the role of advertisement has been significantly altered and there is no need for specific merchandise to be advertised fiercely. Driven by greed of manufacturers, ordinary people are bombarded with infinite amount ads, such as pop-ups, billboards, Tv ads, and numerous paid videos on Youtube. As a result, the individuals are buying things they don’t really need and want. Exemplifying this is a wide range of assortment of cosmetics promoted by influencers. The targeted group has been purchasing their products so much that their wallets has become empty by the end of the day. The more hazardous could be the damage they cause to skin if not used correctly. Instead of blindly following manipulative advertisements, the users should question the transparency and ambiguity of celebrity endorsements.
In summary, while advertisements are assisting millions of people in spotting crucial products such as drugs, the customers should be aware of its deceptive tactics. I stand firmly to the statement that only the benefits from commercials can be taken on the condition that people use it consciously to locate items they really lack.
