Nowadays, the overpopulation problem has become a serious issue. Governments find solution to encourage people to move to suburban areas. I believe the advantages of this decision outweigh the disadvantages. Firstly, I will explain how moving out would affect city life and its impact on economy of rural area, then I will show how deforestation could harm the area.
The overpopulation problem is more common in big cities. It causes numerous other problems in return, like air pollution or noisy environments. If more people move out of the cities it would be beneficial for both citizens in the city and those in the village. Firstly, in cities it would be less crowded. That means traffic issues would calm down a bit. Less traffic noise also creates a peaceful environment. For instance, Tokyo’s metro system is famous for overcrowding during rush hour. With fewer people living in the city, public transportation can be less congested, leading to a more comfortable commute experience. Furthermore, it would also affect the local people positively. It is because when the government encourages people to move out it means these people should live and work in that area. It would boost the economy of rural area. First of all, the housing market would thrive because those people need a place to stay. Then the labor market is also affected. If new factories or other employment centers open, then local people can benefit from it too. For example, in Sicily, Italy, new residents have started businesses such as boutique hotels, restaurants, and shops, creating jobs for the local population. This helps young people of that area leaving for urban centers due to a lack of employment.
Deforestation is the main disadvantage of this decision. When people move to rural areas, they need to get a place.New job creations also demand a space. It would result in the deforestation of an area to create space for construction. Deforestation in its return results in the loss of biodiversity. Because, as we know, forests are home to many creatures living there.Cutting down trees means those creatures lose their home. The Atlantic Forest, one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, has lost approximately 85% of its original cover. This has resulted in habitat loss for thousands of species and increased the risk of flooding and landslides in rural areas due to the loss of forest cover.
In conclusion, although deforestation has a negative impact resulting from people moving to rural areas, however it would be more beneficial to individuals both in cities and in rural areas.
