Band 7+: In many countries people do not recycle waste materials such as bottles and newspapers. What is the reason for this? What could be done so solve this problem.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is true that reutilizing waste materials is an uncommon activity to some people in various parts of the world. This essay will focus not only on reasons why they have this tendency, but also on solutions which should be adopted to alleviate the problem.

To begin with, the main reason for this situation is the lack of awareness and education. Indeed, a significant number of people may lack access to information relating to the environment, especially the impacts of garbage on human well being. Or even, they cannot know how to sort their waste into the proper bins, and hence they are likely to have little concern for the importance of recycling. Additionally, the cost of reutilizing is also a big barrier for people to engage in this practice. Honestly, to facilitate waste recycling, it is necessary to go through a lot of different stages, such as removing impurities, cleaning, extensively distinguishing,… , which requires an essential demand of enough capital and abundant labor.

Facing such a situation, the government should implement some suitable policies to improve it. Firstly, people need to propagate the campaign “3R: Reduce-Reuse-Recycling” as well as launch a movement to put the eco-friendly ideas into practice. For example, they can incorporate environmental education projects into the teaching programs at school so that the younger generation is able to absorb knowledge of “recycling’’ in order to develop early awareness of protecting their lives early. Secondly, the government can invest in the establishment of more recycling factories and distribute them nationwide to make it convenient for residents to participate in recycling efforts. Furthermore, to reduce the cost of recycling, individuals or organizations should find some international investors for the initiatives to provide support and reduce the economic burden together.

In conclusion, there are several realistic reasons to explain this tendency. Simultaneously, taking some essential measures is extremely important to encourage people to follow this campaign to mitigate the detriments which waste materials bring.
