In many countries, governments tend to spend a substantial portion of their budget to the arts. However, others think that health and education should be the top priority of the authorities. Personally, I agree with spending more money on health and education due to some reasons mentioned below.
On the one hand, investing money in the arts is reasonable to some extent. They argue that art is a vital factor of a nation’s identity and heritage, and government support is essential to preserve and promote traditional arts. The arts, like music, theater, and painting, can help promote creativity and new ideas. They can also attract tourists, which helps the economy. For example, cities with active art scenes often get more visitors, which is good for local businesses. Therefore, without government backing, many of above art forms might be lost, leading to a loss of cultural diversity.
On the other hand, critics say the government should focus more on health and education, which are very important for people’s well-being. First and foremost, healthcare and education are essential services, ensuring the population is healthy and well-educated, which contributes to the nation’s prosperity. In addition, many countries nowadays face healthcare crises, and allocating more funds to healthcare could address pressing issues like access to medical services, disease prevention, and affordable treatment. For example, countries with well-funded healthcare systems tend to have higher life expectancy, while those that invest in education often see stronger economic growth. In many remote areas, there is a shortage of facilities and qualified teachers, leading to high illiteracy rates. Meanwhile, in urban centers, students often drop out of higher education due to financial limitation. Therefore, prioritizing healthcare and education is crucial for the long-term prosperity and stability of a nation.
In conclusion, while the arts are important for preserving cultural heritage, I still believe that healthcare and education are basic to the well-being and future success of any individuals. For this reason, governments should allocate more resources to these crucial sectors.
