Delaying/ forgoing marriage and parenthood isn’t a sudden maze as it might seem, it is a dilemma that grew slowly amongst different generations such as Millennials and Gen Z. There are numerous problems but I will state the most common ones. The new generations are much more aware than the ones before, they watched their parents struggle through their marriage or even end it horribly which results to a wounded child that grew up to hate the thought of marriage. It became a fear morelike, many people struggle with mommy/daddy issues in those generations i mentioned including me!
Moreover, the most obvious problem would be the economy. A marriage is extremely expensive these days let alone having children to provide and educate decently.
However, there are plenty of ways to fix this dilemma. Govermental wise, they could offer a wage for newly married couples on their first two years of marriage that could help them settle. Also, free healthcare and a financial reward for mothers after birthing their firstborn would be an encouragment.
Societal wise, awareness should be raised about mental health. Additionally, some marriage traditions mustn’t continue in some communities, like mine for instance, there is a tradition which prevents angaged couples from seeing eachother or communicating as it is seen shameful forbthe father to let his daughter speak to the man (husband technically).
In conclusion, new genrations are more aware of their mental state and the struggles that comes with marriage. It became hard to make a wedding, build a house and provide for children finacially. As i mentioned solitions would be to make it affordable and encourage people. Also, ban traditions that take away freedom of choice.
