Generally speaking, it goes without saying that the marriage question has been one of the most heated and discussed topics nowadays. Personally, I assume that despite the fact that many wedding ceremonies, especially in the past, were concluded only for financial benefits, yet, there are other reasons why women still want to marry men.
First of all, one has to emphasize the fact that in modern society no one individual is forcing women to get married with men; everything happens only in terms of personal content. Secondly, decision to get married is influenced by group of factors, such as: personal priorities and feelings, individual values, life position and so on and so forth. Additionally, one must contend that in contemporary society a decision to get married is mutual. This means that both men and women decide to get married and it does not depend only on female choice.
Nevertheless, it is essential to underscore that the increasing of a social independence of women ,theoretically, influences a marriage statistic, since before 20 century many ladies were forced to get married with men and did not have any rights to vote on elections or choose some work directions. Therefore, women had to marry to secure their lives. Nowadays, women are absolutely free and can do as many as men can. Consequently, they do not need to marry. On top of that, as women have gained more access to education and employment opportunities, they have become financially self-sufficient. They can prioritize career, personal growth, and other aspects of life of traditional marriage.
To conclude, despite the fact that the economic and social independence played a vital role in changing perceptions of marry, it is just one element of various social, cultural, and individual factors.
