Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: In many places, people's lifestyles are changing rapidly, and this affects family relationships. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, in many countries, technological advances and other social changes have transformed people’s lifestyles which has influenced family relationships. Although this development has some negative effects, I belive that its advantages outweigh its disadvantages because it improves people’s quality of life.

On the one hand, this trend improves people’s quality of life. This is becuase technological developments have made many daily activities faster and more convenient. For example, in the past, individuals spent a considerable amount of their time on household chores such as washing dishes and clothes, whereas today these tasks can be completed by modern househould appliances. As a result, people have more time to relax and stay in touch with their family members.

On the other hand, these social changes and technological advances have improved the way people communicate. People can communicate with each other regardless of distance, which can strenthen family relationships. For instance, students who study abroad can use social platforms to stay in touch with their parents, they can even have face-to-face communication. Consequently, families can preserve their strong emotional bonds support each other during difficult times.

However, through these developments people are exposed to modern lifestyles and they are less interested in traditional family customes which can weaken their bonds with extended family in the long term. Neverthless, this drawback is less significant than the benefits.

To conclude, I believe that this development has more beneficial than drawbacks because it has improved the standard of living and it also has changed the way people communicate. Therefore, it can benefit familiy relationships.
