Band 5+: In many societies in the world, the population is ageing rapidly and this is leading to an unsustainable increase in the cost of public healthcare. A nation's population should pay for their healthcare provision in the future. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In various global communities, the median age of the population has been on a bullish trend, thus, increasing the price of social welfare, specifically healthcare. The people who consume free healthcare in a nation should pay for it in the future.

To be aligned with said statement, it is acceptable that one has to pay for public healthcare because it creates a flow in the economy. If healthcare was free or discounted, the nation’s reservations will not be able to keep up with the cost of hiring doctors, medicines and medical supplies. Another factor is that, having high prices for healthcare sets up an example for said nation’s people to live healthily, thus, avoid unaffordable hospital bills.

To be unaligned with said statement, it is unacceptable and unethical for the dependent classes such as elders or children to be paying for public healthcare. Elders who had paid taxes all their lives to serve the nation’s economy and receive welfare in the future, now must pay more for public healthcare, in which the taxes of their lives had built up for and children who cannot sign up for a reliable source of income will not be able to afford such fees. Furthermore, the majority of the independent class will be in severe debt after paying for healthcare.

I genuinely disagree with enforcing everyone in a nation to pay for their own healthcare when the taxing system is what made the public healthcare system functioned.
