Taking care of a family requires a fair income besides huge amount of time and devotion, and for some people, the total salary of a family should come from both spouses. I strongly agree with the statement that it is the responsibility of two people to work for their family. Firstly, a higher monthly income will help the couple to have better life conditions, and secondly, they will both have their economic freedom which will contribute to their marriage.
To begin with, the role of money is undeniable when it comes to healthier marriages, as finance often causes most family issues. A couple are responsible for themselves, their kids and the house, which compels them to earn more money. Financial issues increase when spouses decide to have a baby, since taking care of a child requires a fair amount of money. Having two resources of income can help the couple to acquire better food, housing and healthcare, for both them and their kids. Also considering the expenses for emergencies, leisure time activities and even for the future, dual salaries can help a family to live in better condition, with less problems. For example, households with two incomes are observed to save more for their retirement plans and children’s education, compared to families with one employed spouse.
Another reason why dual incomes are more beneficial than single ones is that each spouse having their own money contributes to their individuality, which is also advantageous for a healthy marriage. When people get married, they tend to forget about their individual lives and hobbies outside the marriage, as responsibilities multiply over the years. The sense of singularity can be maintained if a spouse saves money for their own needs, such as hobbies and other pastime activities. For instance, couples who spend time and money on their leisure time are more connected with each other.
In conclusion, I agree that dual incomes can significantly enhance financial stability and individuality, leading to healthier connections in a family.
