As the trend of globalization goes on, our world has become full of diversity with different people from varied backgrounds living together. Hence, it’s inevitable that many would have to emigrate with their families from their homeland to another country for their career. While it appear to fascinating to live abroad, is it all it’s cracked up to be?
Moving to a new place means the need to adapt to a new environment and that an abundance of unfamiliar things would occur. From the bright and positive side, you can have bigger chance of knowing more people with various backgrounds by sharing cultural experiences with each other. Additionally, most immigrants tend to choose big and powerful countries such as the USA, giving the employees better salaries and ample career potentials. For their kids, they can grow to be more academically competitive as they are naturally exposed to an environment which provides high-quality education and shapes them into individuals with broader vision of the world. However, there also some drawbacks. When a society is filled with a variety of cultures, racism might happen, which leads to new immigrants’ sense of isolation and causes them serious mental suffering. What’s even worse, those attracting strengths could completely die out as a family is rejected by the whole community.
With merits and demerits co-existing in this issue, moving overseas may not seem to be as perfect as people have thought. But in my opinion, it could still be feasible while newcomers dedicate themselves to fitting into the society and everyone is willing to understand each other’s uniqueness in the meantime. In that case, the advantages surely outweigh the diadvantages.
