For the last few years, many people started to prefer online books rather than paper books to read. In my opinion, that can have two main advantages: people spent less money and they can have their e-book with them everywhere, because it is lightweight. However, online books also have disadvantages, such as lower concentration on information; also, people read and frequent use of books from non-official resources.
There are two reasons, why people choose online books. The first one is lower price, because usually people cannot afford buying printed books. Nowadays, people are very rational with their money, so they prefer cheaper versions of different things, as books. Many scientists emphasize on decreasing sales of printed books, because of available cheaper alternative on people’s phones or special devices. A further reason is perfect format of e-books (many people admitted that this type of book is much more comfortable for them because of size; they can read in different places, what help them to economize their time).
In spite of all positive aspects of online format, many people also experienced a plenty of concerns of this type of reading. The main is of course lower concentration, due to different apps, which grab their attention. Most students complained on tougher understanding and remembering of all materials for exams, which they have had to study, by reading non-printed materials. Moreover, few volunteers said, that in past decade, almost half of online-readers neglected copyright and downloaded books from unknown web sites, what leads to using non-official versions.
In summary, I can conclude, that e-books can have both positive and negative impact on people lives, so everyone has a chance to choose format, that is more affordable for them.
