In modern society, the environment that a person lives in is believed to have the most significant influence on their personal development. Some argue that personal traits need to be taken into consideration as well as a person’s achievement. However, I will argue in this essay that egalitarian societies are the key to personal achievements in general in two aspects: education and gender equality.
It is undeniable that education equality can immensely affect one’s accomplishments. As our society develops as a whole, the ability of literacy and access to modern technologies become increasingly important in an individual’s personal development. In countries that support egalitarianism, like Finland or Norway, the literacy rate is near 100%, according to the World Population Review, which is outstanding. Conversely, not even half of the people living in countries like Niger and Papua New Guinea know how to read and write. There is a vast difference between having the ability to read and write and not having it. The range of possible vocations is vast for those who can read and write, while for those who cannot, the options are extremely limited.
In addition, the roles that women play in societies often vary among different regions of the world. For example, personal success is out of reach for women in Pakistan because females are often considered inferior to males. In many regions of Pakistan, girls go to primary school, but they do not have access to secondary education because of the shortage of secondary schools in their area. This is rather disheartening, if women were offered more freedom in terms of education, they could have more motivation to pursue their dreams and goals.
In conclusion, I believe egalitarianism serves as a pedal for individuals to succeed, as an egalitarian society can facilitate more achievements. Gender and education equality are some fundamental aspects that can help ensure equal opportunity for everyone in society.
