It is now not uncommon to see many countries developing international tourism, as it is the main source of income. While this trend has some drawbacks, I believe that benefits are more significant.
On the one hand, if the international tourism has been the major source of money, there would be certain disadvantages for all sides related. One significant drawbacks is the environmental pollution. In other words, when more and more tourists come to the country, they might cause more air and noise pollution. Take historical sites as an example, when there are many tourists, they might leave litter in the streets or museums. If it were not for tourists, there would not be that much pollution. Given that, the more tourists, the greater the level of environmental damage.
These disadvantages notwithstanding, I hold the view that advantages are far more greater. The first one is that tourism to international countries can boost economy. International tourism can help government in that case. For instance, the tourist attractions can not be cheap, so that the tourists have to pay for visiting museums or to collect the attractive souvenirs. Also, as tourists come from many foreign countries, there can be much more job vacancies for local people who can work as a guide, translator or hotel staff. Therefore, it seems like this development is likely to benefit the both tourists and local residents equally.
In conclusion, although international tourism can bring some harmful effects to the environment, this trend can also be beneficial in terms of development of the country and more income to the government. It seems to me that benefits of international tourism carry more weigh.
