Entrance fees in museums and historical sites have been discussed nowadays. Different people have different views about whether it is better to charge people for visiting or not. In my point of view, both approaches have their own merits and demerits.
On the one hand, not having entrance fees will help attract more visitors as people do not have to spend money just to get inside the museum. This will result in public awareness being raised and the museum or historical sites become more popular. However, there are major problems to this approaches. The museum cannot control the number of guest in time. And because the fees are not compulsory, the museum can be struggle to preserve the artefacts as they do not have enough money.
On the other hand, having entrance fees not only help the museum to control the targeted visitors, but also help them to improve appearance of the museum itself. Moreover, the fees will help the museum to provide visitors with better service, therefore make it more popular. But charging people can lead to the reduction of potential visitors. For instance, young people may choose to go the park or cinemas on their day off instead of a museum that charges its guests.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that each way has its advantages and disadvantages. Museums and historical sites may choose to have entrance fees or not based on local conditions.
