The question of whether museums should charge admission fees or not has sparked a long-running controversy over the years. In some countries, while it is forced to pay an entrance fee, others do not. From my perspective, museums should charge admission fees, used to upgrade facilities and foster customers’ art-related experiences.

One primary advantage of paid admission is keeping sustainable revenue generation for maintenance and development. It allows to cover basic expenses and integrate digital technology into museums’ operations, thereby spurring a sense of authenticity and enhancing holistic experiences for visitors. Louvre in France, for instance, is reported to facilitate higher quality experiences including improving lighting systems and adding Internet connection to cater for customers’ reading needs. Moreover, paid admission enables investment in educational initiatives. By exhibiting new digital technology, students can also experience historical knowledge through interactive displays that foster different learning styles. This, in turn, accidentally makes an economic barrier for lower-income individuals and families.

However, free admission to museums and historical sites is accessible to all. It encourages frequent visits and greater public engagement, higher attendance rates in the UK’s National Museum serves as an example. While free entrance fee limits resources for new exhibits and technological upgrades when relying much on governmental funding and donations. Funding fee model cannot have enough resources to improve amenities and leverage modern devices compared to fee-based tickets. Moreover, it has the potential for overcrowding during peak tourist season, which leads to terrible experiences for visitors.

In conclusion, while no free-based entrance ticket is possibly available for all groups of people, it is on the edge of eclipsing great experience by uncontrollable crowds. I believe that by charging fee admission, museums can prevent crowds, refurbish facilities and apply more technology to bring tourists a comprehensive experience with exhibition value, although the income barrier is a problem.
