While studying at school, children often engage in part-time jobs in some countries. I believe, that by doing this, teenagers learn to take responsibility for their wishes, and I think this advantage far outweighs any potential disadvantage.
One downside of student jobs might be a lack of time for studying in an educational establishment. In fact, youngsters who have part-time jobs usually spend all their free time working, and eventually their academic performance starts aggravating. The underlying reason for this is that teenagers do not have enough time to do their home tasks and even be present at school. As an illustration, working as a kitchen employee, I spent all my leisure time at work, therefore I did not have the possibility either to visit lectures or to be active and full of energy to achieve high scores. However, in my mind, this issue can be addressed by taking fewer work hours or changing a timetable so that a child has more time for studying at weekends or in the evening.
On the positive side, by engaging in a part-time job, students have a unique opportunity to gain some money for their personal needs. Adolescents often crave to possess the latest model of a phone or have a diverse clothing choice to stand out among their friends. That is why, some money would only benefit them without putting a burden on parents’ shoulders. From my perspective, this way, children learn to take responsibility for themselves and their desires as well as achieve an invaluable working experience.
To conclude, although working part-time may result in poor academic performance, I believe this downside is greatly outweighed by the upside, that only this experience might educate people to take responsibility and be independent.
