In some countries, young generation are tend to work or travel for a year before completing high school and beginning university studies.

This essay will examine both the advantages and disadvantages of gap year.

A gap year would help teenagers to prepare for the change of their lives. One major advantage is that young people can take a year off to work and gain experiences, collect money, so they can be assured that they are financially stable and ready for forthcoming university life. For instance, before finishing high school and being in hurry afterwards organizing papers, money and other expences, students can get a job for a year. It will enable them prepare spiritually and financially without any haste.

However, it also has its drawbacks, like lagging behind of your peers and. Since, they will move on with their studies you can fall behind for a year and you may underperform compared with your groupmates. It might feel draining to get back on track after a year of working, as it may cause a lack of interest to study. Furthermore, returning to academic studies after a long time can be challenging, as students may struggle to bring back their studying habits and adjust to an university environment. Hence, some students are in favour continuing their studies, although majority prefer working and traveling for a year.

Overall, both sides have their merits, but I believe the positives prevail, because young people should take a break to travel and spend time with their loved ones or work in order to provide their future.
