Each year teenagers commit crimes more often. Unfortunately, this social phenomenon is very common. There is a vast variety of offenses teenagers commit starting from stealing candies from shops up to even a murder. In my opinion there is no easy way to answer the question for which crimes teenagers should be punished as adults.
First of all, minor offenses like a shoplifting or vandalism for example grafitti painting should not be punished as major crimes like dealing drugs, murders or beating. Many teenagers commit minor offenses beacuse of influence of peers or society they live in. In additon, family relations also have significant influence on their behaviours. For these kind of bad deeds they shouldn’t be punished like adults. For instance the youth should repair the damage and apologize the victims. The shame that comes with it will be hard and very valuable lesson. It will be enough to convince teenagers to not commit these crimes again.
However, I have different opinion about major crimes. In spite of that serious crimes could be commited for the same reasons as minor offenses in my opinion teenagers should be punished like adults. If young people are brave enough to commit crimes they should also be brave enough to take the consequences. The youth ought to be smart and aware of the conesquences of commiting major crimes. Long years spent in prison will take away from them the best years of their lifes and they will not get back lost time. Moreover, their life after prison will not be easy. They will struggle with daily basis like finding a job.
Taking everything into account, it’s not an easy decision. The type of punishment depend on the serious of crime. I recommend to teenagers all over the world not to commit any crime because the consequences are always bad for them.
