Today the life expectancy of people is increasing so consistently all over the world that some governments started to worry about negative outcomes of this trend. Some people say that outliving might cause some serious problems such as food scarcity and lack of accommodation because of over population. Therefore, governments need to take immediate action against those problems.
The most critical issue is connected with our diet. In more detail, since people started to live longer than they used to, the number of human population boosted and people started to destroy farmland to build new houses and other building. That is the main reason for the problem that is connected with food sources. Farmers lost most of their fields and, consequently, they failed to provide enough food sources. Secondly, given massive amount of people, some governments started to suffer from problems with accommodation. The main reason for this is that in some countries there is not enough state territory to provide enough space to build houses for their population. However serious problems can be experienced by high life expectancy, there are a few direct solutions to them.
One of the most effective solution to the food scarcity is that we should find to increase food production intensively. In other words, by improving soil quality and modifying crops, making them resistant to harsh climate we can address the problem. Today most experienced scientists in FAO are working on modifying the DNA of crops and consumable plants. Hopefully they might achieve possible success in the near future. Yet there is another problem to address and the idea of skyscrapers can be a great resolution. Governments should think about widening their house in length rather than filling their land with one-storey buildings. Multi-storey building can convey a number of benefits such as being accommodation a long with being office or shopping mall.
In conclusion, while high life expectancy might cause food and accommodation problems to both individuals and country, these problems can be tackled by taking immediate measures. I however, believe that earth may not be enough to provide us with sustainable life if such problems are yet to occur.
