Previously, the great knowledge of culture and history was kept in museums, while it is readily available on the internet. While I acknowledge that most of the cultural and historical information is on hand, I still believe that visiting museums to gather knowledge about them is more effective.
On the one side, the easy access to different data on the computer now makes people believe that exhibitions of the olden-day way of life are not necessary. Firstly, it is a lot of time-saving processes because, by sitting at home comfortably, the person can easily search for anything about the history. Secondly, it is a lot cheaper than going to museums since people don’t spend money on expenses such as commuting to long distances. Therefore, not only do they have free access to the sources, but also they contribute to saving the expenditure of fuel.
On the opposite side, visiting old collections of a particular place is still crucial and reliable. Visiting museums is a way to teach young generations by providing real-life experiences and teaching them about cultural heritage to preserve it. For instance, museum exhibitions are often held once a year at school to take them there and teach them by visiting.
In conclusion, although the internet has made cultural and historical information easier and cheaper to access, museums still play an important role in helping people truly understand the past. Seeing real objects and experiencing exhibitions in person creates stronger memories and deeper learning, especially for younger generations. For this reason, visiting museums remains a more effective and meaningful way to gain knowledge about culture and history.
