The use of devices such as laptops and tablets in schools for educational purposes is becoming an increasingly prevalent trend, which has made books and other traditional materials no longer essential. Although such tools contribute positively to students’ studies, their disadvantages cannot be overlooked.
On the one hand, it is indusputable that technological tools exert a positive influence on education by facilitating the acquisition of information and empowering teachers to adopt play-based learning, which , in turn, makes it possible to obtain instant access to nessesary information and engender students’ interest in academic subjects. In addition, through use of gadgets, people can make a positive contribution to mitigating enviromental problems such as deforestation, as the more technological tools are adopted at schools, the less trees are used to produce papers. Hence, not only can laptops and other tools stimulate scholars’ interest in some subjects, but it also enables people to curb the incidence of enviromental issues.
On the other hand, excessive use of laptops ans tablets can lead to the overreliance on them, which can give rise to health problems in the long run. Specifically, eyesight problems often stem from prolonged screen exposure excessive screen time. Providing students with technological tools can also pave the way for cheeting during exams and, subsequently, undermine academic stability at school, thereby giving rise to frustration among students. Thus, use of laptops and other technological tools can negatively affect students’ attitude concerning school exams and have serious and long-term eyesight repercussions. In conclusion, implementation of technology is a double-edged sword. While this development can mitigate the problem of deforestation and encourage scholars to engage in academic activities, it has serious drawbacks, including eye-related issues and overreliance on technological tools.
