Annually, many people look forward to specific events focused on sports among different countries. However, some people believe that the costs are very high and cause many issues in the event’s county. In this essay, I will explain that even though they indeed give some problems and are everything but cheap, they are still giving many incentives.
Although the main purpose of these events is to entertain people, it also has many drawbacks and requires a lot of financial supplies. Despite the fact that many events are costly, the workers often have to do their job in humiliating conditions, entrepreneurships are demanded to pause their work frequently, and during the event there occur various problems regarding damage and pollution in infrastructure. The most significant example is with the Olympic games, in which all these problems are appearing. If we would stop with events like this, many of these unnecessary causes would be prevented.
In contrast to the disadvantages, there are positive aspects about sport events as well; because even though indeed the expenses are immens, there is also a lot of income. All the expenses for the organization, for example, are being gained back because of the tickets, merchandise, food, and beverages that visitors buy. Besides, the companies which are being demanded to stop, are being compensated with a grant out of the organization. Additionally, since the sport games are being broadcasted on television, a country’s appearance is shown positively as well, which influences the tourism rate positively as well, also in a later stadium. To my opinion, in order to entertain humanity, these advantages do outweigh the negative aspects.
In conclusion, even though sport events are frequently being blamed for being vastly expensive, humiliating for employees, and causing much litter and damage in the environments, they have many advantages as well. Grand international events, improve the image of the hosting country, entertain the audience, and after all, is beneficial for the economy as well. That is why I overall agree with the statement people make, but that the positive aspects are more significant than the drawbacks.
