International tourism has major impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Those impacts can be categorized as advantages and disadvantages also.
When we talk about the advantages, international tourism brings money to the country and contributes to the economy growth. As example, 20% of economy of Thailand is based on the international tourism. As another advantage, tourism creates new job opportunities for the people living in the tourist areas. In Sri Lanka, most of the people living in tourist areas, sell their own handmade products to the tourists. This is the main income of their day-to-day life. Some of them works as tour guides. They exchange the information about their own country which leads to the increment of tourism.
Although there are many advantages of tourism, there are some disadvantages also. International tourism affects the culture of locals which has major effects on their society. Some of the locals attracts to the bad trend which comes along with tourism. It ruins some important traditional habits of locals.
As we can see, there are so many advantages in international tourism such as contribution for the growth of the country’s economy and creation of new job opportunities. There are some disadvantages such as its bad effect on the culture of locals.
In my opinion, international tourism has many advantages than disadvantages. So, the disadvantages of international tourism doesn’t outweigh the advantage.
