Language is the most powerful medium of how we communicate. The language diversity across the world has influenced some people to think about inventing a new language for foreign communication. This essay intends to analyze the benefits and drawbacks of this approach. In my opinion, I believe there will be not much advantages in the process.
The major challenge while creating a new language will be faced by the existing international language – English. People all over the world are using English in various fields like communication, business, entertainment, and employment; thus, it will be very hard to replace this well-established language. In addition, the government have to invest a lot of money onto many linguists which in turn have no guarantee to bring certain benefits. For instance, it will require many projects to be developed like infrastructure, qualified language teachers, and extensive promotion, all of which need a lot of time to be in a good shape. Ultimately, this project can turn out to be a failed scheme because people tend not to learn a new language, considering them as tough and tricky. Therefore, a new language scheme will face serious competition and challenges both at establishing and getting acceptance for it.
In contrast to several disadvantages, there are some positive phenomena also. Firstly, it will help to minimize the language barriers and allow people for effective communication. Secondly, there will be new job opportunities for language teachers and other qualified graduates, which will help to reduce the unemployment rate. However, these possibilities will only arise if the language scheme becomes successful, which has no certainty. Thus, it is likely that the opportunities won’t be in touch for the major risks involved with the project.
In conclusion, there are a few advantages of this project, but I firmly believe they will not come into a reality as it has numerous risks and challenges both socially and financially. Therefore, I think the advantages do not outweigh the disadvantages.
