Some people believe that motivation is more important than discipline when learning something new. However, I strongly disagree with this opinion. In my view, motivation is temporary, while discipline helps you make real progress.
Firstly, motivation can come and go very quickly. It gives us energy in the beginning, but it does not last long. For example, a person may feel motivated to learn English for two or three days, but when they do not see fast results, they stop. This shows that motivation alone is not enough to achieve long-term goals.
On the other hand, discipline is more powerful and reliable. Discipline means studying even when you are tired or don’t feel inspired. For instance, successful people often say that they achieved their goals not because of motivation, but because they worked every day, even when it was difficult. Discipline helps you continue despite problems or barriers.
To sum up, motivation helps us to start, but discipline helps us to finish. In the end, the person who keeps going, even without motivation, is the one who reaches their goals.
