It is undoubted that growing traffic and pollution are one of the most concerning problems to citizens. Therefore a lot of solutions have been proposed to solve this problem. One of which is the increasing price of petrol. I believe this is not the best solution to this problem.
Firstly, growing traffic is mostly caused by the traveling requirement of citizens. Not many people are keen on traveling by public transportation . They would rather use their own car, not only because it is convenient, it is also more personal. They do not have to interact with strangers they might meet on public transportation . Therefore increasing the price of petrol can not change their opinion on using personal or public transportation.
In addition, pollution is mostly caused by smoke coming from transportation. Therefore to decrease the pollution status, we should decrease the amount of cars on roads. The phenomenon of one person only per car happens occasionally, taking up spaces and increasing the amount of smoke released to the environment. So, instead of increasing the price of petrol, we should increase citizens’ awareness and show them the convenience of using transportation. We should improve the public transportation system, making it more convenient and effective.
In conclusion, I personally believe that increasing petrol prices is not the best way to solve traffic and pollution problems. Instead, we should raise people’s awareness about it and come up with a way to commercialize the convenience of public transportation and decrease the amount of cars on the street.
