In contemporary society, many people hold the view that fast food advertising has a detrimental impact on the community, causing health problems such as obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure, and therefore ought to be stopped. Since it has both positive and negative aspects, I take a middle position on this issue and suggest stricter regulations on advertising campaigns.
On the one hand, the group that suffers the most harm from advertising is children and teenagers, as they are curious and impressionable. By exploiting their curiosity, companies advertise their products during children’s shows on television and even enter schools. Unfortunately, due to a lack of complete information about the harms of misleading fast food advertising, young people face health problems as a result of consuming large quantities.
On the other hand, since companies need to tell customers about their products, advertising is a key part of a business. If advertising is banned, companies will struggle in their development, and this in turn, will harm the economy of the society. If the economy suffers, it will eventually make people’s lifestyles more difficult; these processes are interconnected.
In conclusion, the government should impose restrictions on advertising. It should be moderate and contain accurate information. Along with the benefits of the advertised food, its harmful aspects should also be mentioned. In my opinion, reducing children’s exposure and educating consumers about their purchases are more effective ways to address the issue.
