Generally, top positions such as CEOs in big companies tend to receive more income compared to other employees. In my personal perspective, there are numerous reasons that justify this pay gap. For instance, these positions are more stressful and come with heavy responsibilities.
Executives are experienced individuals who have worked their way up and have gone through years of hardship. They were most likely interns in the past and proved themselves worthy in time, achieving higher ranks. These ambitious people carry a lifetime of experience which makes them valuable assets to the company. By considering famous CEOs this pattern is clearly happening around the world. Almost every CEO has admitted to a lifetime of hard work and challenges. As a result, CEOs and similar employees are not easily replaced which consequently increases their salary.
The higher the rank in a company, the higher the responsibilities. Executives are required to make crucial decisions that may be of great consequence. Thus, putting them in a tough and demanding position. They must be accountable for their impactful actions which may be an unbearable burden. For instance, a CEO can make decisions to change a policy in a large company. This could benefit the company and its employees. On the other hand, this decision may potentially destroy the company. Higher salaries must be considered for these types of positions to compensate for all the immense pressure these people go through.
In conclusion, although it may seem unfair that particular individuals receive higher incomes, however, in my opinion, the weight of these responsibilities and their appropriate reward should be acknowledged.
