Band 7+: large companies use sports events to promote their products. Some people think this has a negative impact on sports. A/D ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In contemporary society, it is evident that major enterprises in the world usually take advantage of large sports events to advertise their goods. A certain number of individuals assert that this trajectory heralds a harmful development to sports. From my personal standpoint, I partially concur with this opinion and this essay will elaborate on arguments to elucidate my stance.

On the one hand, it is essential to acknowledge that there are several setbacks stemming from this actions from companies. First and foremost, advertisement will facilitate the dissemination of toxic consumer goods, such as tobacco or alcohol, in case companies publicize these kind of products. This is primarily because of the fact that the effects of great sports tournaments are on global scale; thereby, largely encourage viewers seek out and purchase such noxious items, especially among the susceptible young generation who often idolize their favorite sporting figures as heroes. Additionally, opponents of this perspective also insist that this trend will result in the commercialization of sports events, which potentially ruins its original glory and beauty of sport.

On the other side of the spectrum, despite the aforementioned drawbacks, it is essential to acknowledge that there are also several advantages may arise from the promotion of large companies. Firstly, the substantial sponsorship from enterprises for tournaments will probably benefit sport enthusiasts. The required expenditure to properly hold a major sports competitions, are financially aided by companies. This will lead to a situations where tickets become more affordable for the vast majority of audiences, making sport events more accessible. Furthermore, both sponsoring enterprises and sports players will gain mutual benefits. Thanks to these promoting programs, athletes can largely publicize their personal image, while companies can advertise their products. This, in turns, will form a symbiotic relationships where both companies’ profits and athletes’ income increase.

In conclusion, it is my firm belief that the topic under discussion is multifaceted, accounting for both significant merits and demerits. The implementation of a nuanced approach is imperative to mitigate the possible risks while harnessing the benefits.
