Major busiess use sporting events as a tool to advertise their porducts. While I understand that it may bring a negative impact on sports, I agree that this is largely positive development.
On the one hand, when the sporting competition gets sponsorship from the business, it may take a toll on the sporting world. Instead of promoting sport’s true value, both of the organiser and the investor just put priority on monetary merits. For example, sporting events should instill a sense of sportsmanship among spectators and players. However, nowadays they use sport occasions as marketing tools to promote thier brands and the products leading to the revenue and profits for both of them. As a result, sporting events values are overshadowed by financial gains which have an adverse bearing on the sports’ spirits
On the other hand, using sporting occasions as a tool to promote products may have several positive impacts on sports. The sponsorship of major companies can bring the sports to a broader audience. For instance, thanks to the investment of giant sport companies, such as Adidas or Nike in football, it becomes more ubiquitous in developing nations in Africa. Moreover, business’s investment also helps the clubs to build better facilities and provide better trainings for the players. This can act as an incentive for more competitive games and matches, leading to greater feats and glory.
To sum up, while others argue that major businesses should not promote their products in sporting matches as it has a negative impact, I believe that goods promotion would bring several benefits to the club and audience.
