More and more individuals who live in metropolises face challenges such as stress and pressure due to overcrowding and high cost of living. However, while I believe that urban living may offer benefits for some people, I agree that governments should motivate them to relocate to less-populated areas.
To begin with, one of the biggest problems experienced by city residents is the impact of urban areas on their well-being. In fact, since living in a big city has become increasingly expensive, a growing number of individuals struggle with anxiety and insomnia due to an overwhelming lifestyle. Moreover, many young people find it especially attractive to experience a hustle and bustle of metropolises, contributing to overcrowding and noise pollution in these areas. Consequently, green spaces in big cities are being destroyed as urban development expands, which negatively impacts individuals who look for isolation and relaxation. For example, Oslo’s rapid growth has doubled demand for housing and infrastructure, leading to a decline in natural landscapes in the area. This has resulted in fewer recreational areas for city residents, making it harder for them to relax and unwind in such places. If this trend continues, a great number of people will not only experience increased stress levels and mental disorders, but also obesity due to a sedentary lifestyle.
One effective solution that governments can implement to encourage people to live in smaller towns is to offer better work opportunities and reduced living expenses compared to metropolises. For instance, this can be done by increasing wages and investing in smaller municipalities to develop infrastructure, making them more attractive for city residents. Furthermore, another possible way to tackle these problems is to provide better standards of living with well-developed communities to motivate people to settle in smaller towns. Although, these solutions may be financially demanding, governments should invest resources to reduce overcrowding and price growth in urban areas.
In conclusion, an increasing number of individuals experience different problems due to the negative impacts of living in large cities. In order to address these issues governments should consider allocating resources to smaller towns to enhance their infrastructure.
