Navigating unfamiliar cultures and environments can be daunting. But those are the things that makes us grow as people. Like two years ago, I traveled to Spain for two weeks. It was exciting yet a bit scary, because it was the first time I went so far away from my homeland. However, I was ready explore the city I was in, and try the local food. I would consider that I am easily adaptable to change. For example, when I went to Lithuania I easily altered my everyday routine to fit the environment. Thus having a good time there.
I understand that living in the U.S. for a whole school year would be a significant challenge, especially since I have never left my homeland and family for so long. But, I believe that my adaptability will help. And I do not think that U.S high school would be a significant challenge, as I understand English quite well. I can watch most movies or Youtube videos in English and I will understand all of it. And I perform well in English tests at school. While also I can be very patient, for instance when I have to do a group projects or sit at school.
A characteristic that could help with living in the U.S. is my open-mindedness. In the sense that I am ready to learn about new cultures, ideas and perspectives. But living with a host family would be quite difficult at first, because I may not connect with people quickly, since I am personally an introverted person. Nevertheless I eventually form strong bonds and friendships with others.
In conclusion, my adaptability, language skills, patience and open-mindedness would help me in navigating the challenges of living with a host family and attending a U.S high school.
