During leisure time, a lot of children are pushed by their parents to get a part time job. Although having a part time job can offer some advantages, I believe that it has more disadvantages.
In terms of advantages, having a part time job could offer a few benefits for children. Firstly, children could prepare their careers in advance. These days, companies usually look for candidates who already had relevant work experiences. Thus, by having work experiences early, children could be well-equipped to compete in the job industry in the future. Secondly, children might achieve skills related to professional work, such as communication, teamwork, and time management. Consequently, the skills gained by them can be useful for their academic life. For instance, by having a great time management, children could plan their academic assignments effectively.
Apart from the benefits, I believe that children can be more impacted by the drawbacks. To begin with, children can be distracted from their school tasks. The work burden and pressures from their superiors can cause them to be too focused on their work. As a result, they cannot pay attention in class and abandon their academic assignments. Consequently, they can achieve low scores on their exams. Furthermore, children can lose a lot of their time doing their jobs, so, they cannot do things that they like, such as socializing with people, doing their hobbies, and others. As a result, they cannot relieve their stress of working and studying. Thus, impacting their mental health and work-life balance.
In conclusion, while having a part time job could make children to be well-equipped to compete in the job industry, and gain various skills, I believe that it draws more drawbacks, such as low exam scores and impact on their mental health and work-life balance.
