Children are influenced by their parents to get a part-time job in their spare time. Such actions can be characterized as both advantages and disadvantages.
To start, encouraging children to work can prove beneficial in several grounds. One of the most obvious benefits is the preparation for an adult life. For example, if they start to feel adult concerns and problems related to career and work gradually at their younger ages, some problems that they could face in the future might not be much stressful. One other merit is protecting children from accidents. To put it more clearly, when children are let spend their time freely, most of them tend to harm themselves accidentally by putting themselves under dangerous circumstances. In such case, creating a safe working environment for a child and employing them seems more preferable rather than setting them free in their free time.
Nevertheless, employing children in their free time is not virtuous in all respects. Evidently, pushing a child out of their own comfort zone to demanding working environments can cause to make them feel overwhelmed and also less active in the future by not letting them feel the actual joy of their childhood periods. More worryingly, encouraging children to work can limit their growth in other fields. For example, spending their time on such part-time jobs could set a lot of boundaries and barriers in their future career as they spend their valuable time to work rather than improving on academic fields.
In conclusion, while the main positives of encouraging children to spend their free time on some part-time jobs are personal growth at younger ages and keeping them in safer and more reliable environments, the negatives can be less joyful childhood years and limited knowledge and career growth in the future.
