Band 7+: Many countries are racing to find extraterrestrial life. Why are people trying to pursue this? What is the impact of this on society?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A competitive race between countries to conquer outer space in search of life beyond the Earth has been going on in recent years. This competition comes from clearly visible causes and relates to many noticeable influences on the community.

This global concern can originate from many causes, considering the common interests of humanity and the particular ones of each country. Considering the scale of all humanity, extra-terrestrial life is inevitable to ensure everlasting life for human beings in the cosmos. Indeed, life on Earth is The Dawn of Civilization compared to the development of the whole universe, meaning that seeking radio signals from other intelligent civilizations or allies opens up a new horizon of human knowledge about galaxies, in other words, satisfying our curiosity. Besides, people cannot rule out the possibility that the effects of natural disasters, environmental pollution, or global conflicts, which can lead humankind to the verge of extinction, are the great driving force that motivates people to find other green planets. From a national perspective, dominating space is a prominent strategic ambition of big nations, besides sustainable economic development, to expand their influence in today’s context of globalization. For instance, large countries with strongly developed economies, especially the US, Russia, China, or India, have globe-around-flying satellites and spacecraft with scientific missions such as exploring Mars and probing water sources on planets similar to Earth.

The impacts of this issue on society are significant and still spark a controversial debate about their beneficial or detrimental fields. Admittedly, unidentified flying objects and aliens visiting the Earth are the results of humanity sending signals into space to attract the attention of life outside the planet. Moreover, competing in the production of space shuttles consumes large amounts of fuel and production costs, causing exhausted resources and thus triggering energy wars. Nonetheless, discovering an alternative homeland that ensures living conditions compatible with people’s characteristics is a paramount mission in the endeavor to conserve the human race due to overpopulation worldwide. For example, major space agencies like NASA have built state-of-the-art space probes to carry out the Space Travel mission with expeditionary domains.

Space voyages for signals of life outside the atmosphere are a major human problem, coming from long-term survival causes and affecting many aspects of social life.
