Despite living in peace, several nations are still investing a large piece of their budget for military power. On the opposite, many people believe this should be stopped and the gorvement should focus on economic problems instead. In this essay, I will provide my reasons on why I disagree with the second opinion.
First of all, no business can be completed without un-bypassed border. Countries have to maintain internal security due to a fact that there are still battlegrounds between nations and terrorisms around the world. Furthermore, the use of military is not only limited for self-defense but also for civilized purposes. In cases of natual disaster such as flooding or volcano eruption, soldiers can help spotting and rescuing missing civilians using their modern helicopters, terrain vehicles and equipments; military is also capable of escorting transporting vehicles safely to their destinations through terrorized or piratic areas. It is common to see a container ships travelling along with a battle ship. Therefore, even though we are living in the era of peace, military is still necessary.
But we should not disregard the other point of view. In order to be stable and impartial, government should also concentrate on reducing the gap between the rich and the poor as well as hospitals and education facilities.
To sum up, a balance between the budget given to army and to other society issues should be aimed to by government. Only by doing so, citizens can rest asure that they will live in safety and comfort.
