A widely diffused trend in the measures undertaken by a multitude of governments is to focus on economic development rather than others improvements. Nonetheless, several people support the idea of pursuing the development in other fields in the same way as for the economic one. This opposed views can be combined in order to design political maneuvers pursuing progress in a multitude of different sectors at the same time.

According to some political studies, many countries require an improvement in the managing of social problems rather than a steady economic progress, since social problems are likely to influence the quality of life of citizens more directly than the economic progress of the whole nation. This idea is supported by those who believe that governments should pursue progress in social fields other than in the financial sector. In addition, the supporters of this argument believe that not only do the progress in social fields increase the quality of life but it would also indirectly contribute to the economic development. For instance, measures for the economic support of families with low income would also result in an increase of the market volume for a multitude of objects and subsequently in an economic growth.

On the other hand, many people support the opposed idea because they believe that if governments pursued economic growth earlier, the resolution of social problems would now have been more easy. To sum up, they believe that economic progress can ensure the necessary economic wealth so that other problems can be faced with the adequate economic means.

This topic is often discussed but rarely solved, since the opinions about it tend to be in strong opposition. However, it is possible to recognize the necessity of interconnecting economic growth with the progress in other fields as a common point between these views. In my opinion, government should pursue the progress in different areas at the same time in order to maximize the positive effects that a growth in one sector can have on the others. For instance, industrialization politics lead to an increase of job opportunities and so in a reduction of social issues even if they are measures thought to directly boost economic progress.

In conclusion, governments should pursue the progress in many different sectors at the same time in order to maximize the effectiveness of the measures undertaken.
