Effective planning by the government for the development of a country is crucial. Authorities often argue that economic growth is the most paramount for a country’s overall development, while citizens believe that along with economic progress, other factors such as social, art and culture are too substantial to ignore. According to me, I believe that while economic process is important, other areas also should go side by side. I have a balance perspective on this. However, proper scrutiny should be done.
To embark on this, a country relies vastly on its economy. It is important that economic condition of a country defines country’s status. However, if a country’s financial status of the nation is strong, then citizens can enjoy higher standard of living, country can have a stronger global influence, poverty and inequality will diminish. For instance, countries such as USA and China have a strong powerful global influence due to their robust economy. Hence, economic growth is the foundation upon which other forms of progress can be built.
On the other hand, critics contain that other types of progress such as technology, art and culture, social welfare etc. are equally important. Firstly, social progress such as education and health should be prioritized because without good health facilities and access to education, it plays a crucial role in citizens’ quality of life. However, economic process on the cost of environmental degradation like construction of various industries may result in long term problems like climate change. Moreover, technological process should not be ignored because advancement of technology will make our work easier and faster. For example, developing countries face severe problems like water and air pollution due to industrial expansion. Therefore, effective planning should be done.
In conclusion to the statement above, economic progress is undoubtedly important but should not be pursued in isolation. A balanced approach that values social, cultural and technological progress is essential for country’s development. However, it depends on the person in which view they are in favour of.
