In recent years such a lot of languages are getting lost owing to international languages like English. Despite it seems to have plenty of positive aspects, I believe that this is mostly a negative trend.
One compelling argument in favor of the spread of one language for all nations is that it would be easier to build international communications between people from different countries. To clarify, it is difficult to maintain diplomatic relations due to the fact that different countries have different values, views and historical backgroundS. Thus, using a single language can make it easier to develop international relations between countries.
On the other hand, loss of local languages means loss of cultural heritage and diversity. Language has always been a national treasure of every ethnicity, as it is a way to pass on valuable knowledge to next generations. If local languages die, people will lose the priceless legacy inherited from their ancestors. Moreover, since the local language is a national treasure, the transition to a single language can lead to a loss of cultural diversity, which is happening due to globalization. As a result, ethnic groups may lose their identity, which was passed down from generation to generation.
To conclude, although the spread of languages like English is supposed to have a good impact, I think it may have more negative circumstances.
