A multitude of languages are vanishing because of the fact that certain languages such as English is widespread among others. Although it seems to be a negative tendency, it also has certain benefits, in my view.
First of all, language is one of the main ways of preserving culture and heritage of the nations. Eliminating the native language and switching to one common foreign language paves the way for the destruction of the cultural values and traditions, and degradation of the societal values. For instance, in Azerbaijan, people tend to speak in Russian language and use Russian words which is considered as a negative approach by the people since it poses a threat to the future of the nation. Because the senior citizens hold a belief that by this way, younger generation are deprived of rich Azerbaijani legacy.
Regarding to benefits, it can be argued that English language is of great importance in terms of maintaining communication among different nations. For instance, when individuals pay a visit to Czech Republic, they do not need to learn Czech language to interact with local people. In this case, one common language, such as English will play the role of bridge between populations. Moreover, learning English does open the gate to a variety of sources and enable people to make a thorough research. Thanks to common language, people exchange their views and perspectives and expand their horizons.
In conclusion, the local languages lose their popularity as a result of the emergence of other languages. This phenomenon is widely accepted as a drawback while it contains beneficial sides in terms of enhancing conversations and providing access to credible literature.
