Band 5+: Many parents choose to teach their children at home instead of sending them to school. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In some continents, an increasing number of parents are preferring in-home studys instead of official educationally systems. There are advantages of this trend like less pressure and free topics, but these benefits are outweighed by drawbacks such as lack of communication and not experienced teachers.

One of the main upsides of home education is decreased pressure from exams. Studying at home by parents can be less stressful than in schools because parents would not be as strict as school teachers. As an example of it can be Thomas Edison’s mother who was not rude while teaching him. Another benefit of it could be free topics chosen by child or parents. While school goes with the same system, parents can pick-up any themes for their children and teach him anyway as he wants. For example, when learning history, they can go to topic related museums and collect information from there making studies more interesting.

However, this advantages are outweighed by disadvantages which one of it is reduced interacts between same aged people. Communicating is one of the most necessary things while growing up, with this, people develop their social skills and gain confidence. If the kid does not have enough interraction, it would negatively cause their sight for the world. Another major issue is not experienced for teaching parents. However, our parents are smart, they can not have same teaching skills as experienced teachers. In contrast, teacher are those who got certificate because of good teaching methods.

In conclusion, moreover there are positive sides of home study like decreased stress and specific themes, but they are outweighed by negative impact on child, these can be not enough talking with others and inexperienced educator.
