It is undeniable that common educational system has changed over the years. While some argue that by 2050, the conventional classroom with teachers and students can be replaced, I believe that this educational method will remain sustainable in the future.
There are several reasons why some people believe in a replacement of physical classroom, the majority of which is based on the development of technology. Technological advancements now allow students to access courses from home using only an Internet-connected device. Such online learning platforms not only help reduce educational inequality between urban and rural regions but also expose learners to a wider range of knowledge and skills. As a result, the role of teachers and the traditional classroom environment may appear to diminish, especially for learners who possess strong self-discipline and the ability to study independently.
However, it is obvious that a traditional classroom is an indispensable part of an educational system. An offline classroom provides opportunities for students to interact directly with their teachers and classmates. Such interactions, like communication dialogues, or daily contradiction between them, play a crucial role in fostering essential social skills, such as communicating and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the role of teachers is indisputable, particularly in supporting students to fix their problems that cannot occur through screens and the Internet connection. Students’ behavior in real life allows teachers to evaluate them and provide accurate feedback, contributing to nurturing an upcoming generation in a better way.
Although the development of digital technology allows the appearance of modern educational platforms, I believe that there is no method that can replace the form of education where teachers and students participate in a classroom together.
