As the earth ages and becomes more populated, humans are finding themselves more and more surrounded by a wealth of different environmental issues. Many people are of the opinion that the only way to tackle these problems is by employing an effective and cooperative method. In this essay, I will express my views on this matter and argue that this belief is indeed quite correct.
For one thing, not only are the finite natural resources of our planet gradually terminating, but they are not at all evenly distributed among the millions of people cohabiting on it. For example, it is irrefutable that the majority of the vast sources of fossil fuels and oil are concentrated in the area called the Middle East. It isn’t only the natural resources that are unevenly spread on earth. For instance, the most advanced technological and industrial know-how is almost exclusively in the possession of the developed countries on the western hemisphere. That being said, it is not only the people living in the Middle East who breathe the air polluted by exhaust fumes or Americans who are at risk of being drowned in the glaciers melted due to greenhouse gases emitted by factories; it is all of us, all the inhabitants of the earth. Therefore, by cooperating at an international level, rather than dealing with problems domestically, and by sharing our useful resources we help all nations and all people, including our own, survive.
In addition, by encouraging the spirit of unity and cooperation, nations are able to focus their attention and time on resolving the numerous global issues at hand, rather than on pointless and hazardous disputes like land expansion that trigger wars. Less wars happening basically means less dangerous and unknown gases will be released and consequently global warming will stop taking a turn for the worse. This is why it is important to put our dangerous weapons down and instead join together to deal with global environmental issues.
To sum up, I believe that it is absolutely essential that we handle international environmental problems at an international level.
