In the modern world, people are always looking for innovative ways to develop society in many aspects, and scientific research plays an extremely important role in the development of humanity. However, the majority of individuals argue that responsibility for regulating and conducting scientific research should be assumed by government instead of private organizations. Personally, I believe that the balance between governments and private establishments should be maintained so as to advance the long-term development of the country.
The proponents argue that the government should be the sole organizer and controller of the research to ensure that morality is maintained and taxpayers’ money is satisfactorily and wisely. To clarify, scientific research under the direct observation of governments has hardly any chances of malicious activities. Additionally, researching is used for the betterment of society and promotes a healthy and safe society. A good example of this scientific research, government have never allowed any research to cause harm to humans and sold for profiteering activities or private businesses.
However, it is challenging for the government to conduct highly advanced research with limited funding and human resources. In other words, private companies have their own research and development wings, attracted skilled scientists who work on various research programs and are purposefully invested and heavily funded. Furthermore, competition-driven research environments in the private sector is always bringing innovation and creativity. In contrast, without the innovation and advancements encouraged by private sector, society will forever be stagnant and unable to overtake the world’s advancement.
In conclusion, both government institutions and private companies play an essential role in performing and developing research. Collaboration between public and private sectors is often the most effective approach to maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses, leading to impactful progress in scientific endeavours.
