Nowadays, with the development of diverse technology, everyone has different views on its respective aspects. As for current communication technology, increasingly people consider that it’s detrimental to our interpersonal connection in society. Whereas in my perspective, I oppose this opinion since modern technology replaceable utilization in remote communication and the actual prejudice to its entertainment functions.
My first justification for my agreement is that communication technology has numerous benefits for our daily conversation. With the assistance of various radio waves and signaling equipment, we are able to transmit and receive information anytime and everywhere. Comparing to the past times — when we could barely get any news through newspapers and unreliable hearsay, the advanced communication technology even makes real-time live streaming achievable, and we could also check the news on diverse media on different electronic devices more conveniently. Therefore, communication technology undoubtedly facilitates our interpersonal connection efficiency greatly.
Another factor is the misinterpretation of the amusement function of modern communication technology. Everyone in every era has their suitable recreational activities, and online entertainment projects are just one of them. The skeptical ones, who consider that communication technology is harmful to social interactions, will also tend to suspect any personal hobbies, in fact. For instance, if in ancient times, they might still propose that reading novels, playing instruments, and even researching science are all meaningless, and will also cause isolation between everyone and break our social relationships. Nevertheless, we both realize how ridiculous this argument is. As a result, communication technology is not as adversely influential as some thought. By controversial, when we are enjoying online recreational activities, we are also usually constantly connecting to others actually, whether through cooperative video games or the comment area of video blogs.
Overall, because of the multiple unique advantages that communication technology and its practically innocuous impact on our interpersonal connection, I argue that it has some negative effects on social relationship.
