Nowadays, many people believe that it is better to choose a career as early as possible and stay in the same field forever to be successful. In my opinion, however, knowing your purpose early in life is good, but it does not guarantee our success. I will explain my reasons with relevant examples in the following paragraph.
On the one hand, choosing a career from childhood may lead to a feeling of dissatisfaction in the future. The younger generation is more likely to choose their career based on false criteria such as high income rather than job satisfaction or career prospects. As a result, they may face psychological problems and lose motivation easily. For example, many children want to become doctors in the future because they think that this is a high-paying job. Since they are unable to fulfill their dreams, they may feel disappointed in adulthood.
Furthermore, staying in one job forever reduces our success in life. The more jobs we deal with, the more experience we gain. For example, when we face new challenges in life, we can cope with them without worrying about them.
In the end, although it seems that the goal chosen early in life can be a path to success, other factors are also involved in changing our decision in adulthood under different circumstances. As a result, I disagree with many people who think that becoming a successful professional is better to choose a career early in life and not change it later.
