Band 6+: Many people today are worried about young children using video games. What problems might these games cause for children and society as a whole. How could these problems be reduced?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In modern society, video games are increasingly popular and play a significant role in the spiritual life of young people. However, some children who are addicted to games have presented us with tough decisions. Personally, I believe there are two main issues linked to these products, and also two steps we can take.

To start with, the biggest problem we need to deal with is the level of violence in these games. There are several games that contain high levels of violence and inappropriate content such as fighting and even killing. This may lead children to imitate what they have seen thus they can become more agressive and tend to use violence to solve their problems. In addition, playing computer games can be harmful to physical heath. If children are excessively exposed to blue light from digital screens, they may have eye problems including eye strain and poor vision. Besides, when young children allocate most of their time in front of computers and not go out to do physical activities, they may develop sedentary lifestyles and are likely to be at risk of health problems, ranging from obesity to heart diseases.

Turning to feasible solutions, first and foremost, governments should legislate more strictly to control the content of these games by establishing censorships in order to prevent unsuitable material impacting kids. The second measure is that parents and other members in families ought to pay more attention to their offspring. For instance, they can spend more time playing with children and encourage them to participate in extracuricular activities such as playing sports, going on picnics and going climbing. By doing this, youngsters lead a more active lifestyle.

In conclusion, excessive gaming has both social and physical effects, and to remedy the situation, authorities and parents need to work together.
