Some people find it difficult to spend time with older people to take care of them. This essay gives the main reasons and some ways to address this issue.
The most common reason is the busy lifestyle of younger people. Many people alreadyhave several responsibilities such as education, work, family, etc. Thus, spending time with older ones and looking after them seems likeextra pressure. Another reason is the health problems of elderly people. Many of them have chronic conditions, and they often require special treatment, medicine, and sometimes emergency care which take time, effort, and money.
However, this situation is not hopeless. There are many ways to handle this problem without burning out younger people or making older people feel unsupported. The first one is spreading the responsibility, or in other words, sharing small tasks among each person in a family. For example, one gives medicine, another does groceries, and another keeps company. This teamwork reduces pressure. Another thing I believe that can help is open communication. Young people need to be honest about how much they can realistically handle, and elderly people should express what they truly need without hiding anything. When expectations are realistic, nobody ends up overwhelmed.
In conclusion, there are many excuses that stop people from looking after their older family members, and this should be understandable. People need to find ways to spend more time with them, as they are old and nobody knows when their life will end. People should try to appreciate them as much as they can.
